Eastern Caribbean bracing for Tropical Storm Gonzalo
Barbados, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Tobago are bracing for Tropical Storm conditions beginning Friday night.
Forecasters on Friday morning said Tropical Storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 10.0 North, longitude 51.8 West or about 645 miles East of the Southern Windward Islands, and moving towards the West at 14 miles per hour.
Gonzalo is packing maximum sustained winds of about 60 miles per hour with higher gusts, and further strengthening is expected over the next day or two, which means it could become a hurricane before reaching the Windward Islands.
As Gonzalo approaches the island chain, Watches and Warnings have been issued for several islands.
