Tropical storm Gonzalo to bring gusty winds and heavy rains to southern Windwards Saturday

Grenada,  St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Tobago were bracing for tropical storm conditions on Saturday as Tropical Storm Gonzalo moved steadily towards the chain of islands.  Meanwhile the Barbados government discontinued the Tropical Storm warning for the island on Friday.

Friday night forecasts show Gonzalo about 340 miles (550 km) East of the southern Windward Islands and moving towards the West at near 18 miles per hour. A general westward to west-north-westward motion is expected for the next couple of days, and this should take Gonzalo across the islands on Saturday afternoon or evening, bringing gusty winds and heavy rains.

In the Meantime a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for:
* St. Vincent and the Grenadines
* Tobago
* Grenada and its dependencies

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are
expected somewhere within the warning area, in this case
within the next 24 hours.
