Voting process transparent, free and fair – CARICOM Observers

The CARICOM Election Observer Mission to the just-concluded elections in Guyana said that the voting process was transparent, free and fair. The secrecy of the ballot was protected and respected, the CARICOM Observers said in an Interim Statement.
The Statement, signed by Head of Mission, Mr. Earl Simpson, Deputy Director of Elections, Electoral Office, Jamaica, outlined the deployment of the team, visits to polling stations and overall impressions of the conduct of the polls.
In our view, the conduct of the Poll should result in the expression of the will of the people of Guyana. It is our hope that the results will be accepted and respected,” the Interim Statement said.
A final report of the Mission, setting out its findings and recommendations, is to be submitted to the CARICOM Secretary-General in the coming weeks.
