REETA Project donates US$1,000 towards the CARICOM Secretariat Staff Association’s Back-to-School Supplies Drive for Dominica
A CARICOM Secretariat Staff Association Back-to-School-Supplies-Drive for students in storm-hit Dominica was given a boost this week with a US$1,000 contribution by the CARICOM-German Government Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technical Assistance (REETA) Project.
Mr. Andreas Taeuber, Head of the REETA Project in presenting the contribution to Ms. Mignon Bowen–Phillips, President of the Staff Association took the opportunity to applaud the manner in which the staff of the Secretariat and the people of the Community have supported Dominica in its hour of need.
In response, Ms. Bowen-Phillips expressed gratitude for the generous support received from the REETA project and indicated that it will assist the students who are in need of supplies for the new school year. The Staff Association plans to provide schools bags, note books, crayons, pens and pencils and other stationary supplies to affected students.
This is the second contribution from the REETA project to the Dominica Disaster Recovery Plan. The Project was set up to, among other things, explore the use of solar energy, wind power, bio-energy, and hydro power for energy cost savings in many areas including for business and households.
